Collection and Return

Where

Mobile Men's Shed is currently stored in the Home Modifications Workshop on the premises of Aged & Disability Service Inc (ADSSI) at 3a Pioneer Avenue Tuggerah. Home Modifications Workshop is accessed via a roller door on the side of the building. It is usually locked. To gain access, proceed to Reception through the main doors at the front of the building and ask for the nominated staff member.

When

The Mobile Men's Shed is available for pickup between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday. There is no pickup or return out of hours or on weekends and public holidays.

Who

Please confirm contact and pickup times and procedures before attending the offices of ADSSI. Staff have to be notified of pickup and rostering and notification of staff means prior notification is required.

Deploying the Mobile Men's Shed

Hooking up

It is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure the Mobile Men's Shed is both ready for the journey and appropriately connected to the vehicle.

Jockey Wheel

Ensure the Jockey Wheel is appropriately stowed before moving off.

Chain up

Ensure that the chain is securely connected between the vehicle and the Mobile Men's Shed.

Electrical

The trailer has a 7 pin Flat Plug, Please check that all lights are working before departing. Brakes and indicators should all be functioning.

Chocking the wheels

On arrival ensure the trailer is in position with the jockey wheel deployed as appropriate and the trailer wheels securely chocked with the yellow plastic wheel chocks provided in the Mobile Men's Shed.

Lower the legs

As soon as the Mobile Men's Shed is in position ensure that the four descendible legs are lowered into position. The extended wheel brace provided for this will be alongside the lathe at the rear of the Mobile Men's Shed when the rear shutter is raised.

Weight distribution

Please ensure that when packing the trailer, weight is distributed on the trailer to ensure that the weight of the lathe at the rear is offset and balanced.

Air in tyres

Please ensure that any indication of low air pressure in the tyres is attended to promptly.

Spare Wheel

Before departure to the event or return ensure that the spare tyre is secured.

On return

Please ensure that when the Mobile Men's Shed is placed into position within the ADSSI Home Modifications Shed that adequate access to the fire doors and a clear walkway is retained.

Safety

Electrical

No equipment to be used without appropriate electrical tagging leads to be appropriately elevated.

Moving equipment

Use of the lathe, scroll saw or other electrical equipment through the Mobile Men's Shed requires and appropriate boundary to keep adults and children at a safe distance.

Community engagement

Constructing tissue boxes is immensely popular. Overcrowding should be avoided to ensure safety of children and adults using tools at the workstations.

Trip Hazards

Toolboxes, equipment and materials unpacked from the Mobile Men's Shed must be placed where they do not form a hazard to either the public or those volunteers on the Mobile Men's Shed.

Awning height

The open sides of the Mobile Men's Shed can form a danger to taller people approaching the shed. Preferably ensure the Mobile Men's Shed is on a level surface. Alternatively ensure that a visual or physical indicator will keep members of the public from harm.

Insurance

Stored

The Mobile Men's Shed is covered by the Mens Sheds Central Coast Inc Public Liability and theft insurance while stored between events. Currently stored at ADSSI Tuggerah.

On the Road


The Mobile Men's shed can only be covered by the Comprehensive Insurance Cover of the towing vehicle. The policy information is requested at the time of online booking. The driver is of course required to have a valid driver's license and this is also mandatory information at the time of booking.

At event

The Mobile Men's Shed and the activities of the hirer are coved by the Central Coast Shed Cluster Inc public liability insurance. Certificate of Currency will be provided for the event. care operating in accordance with the deployment of the Mobile Men's Shed described above and taking appropriate caution with the use of tools and equipment in a public place.
